Game of Fashion

I'm feeling very rugged...and quite frankly a little badass lately. This can most definitely be due to the fact that I got wrapped up in the Hunger Games and immediately after Game of Thrones second season started. I feel like you all might be afraid I am some sort of media advertiser or a shut in that watches an obscene amount of television. The fact is that I am easily entertained and in turn fall completely in love with things that are awesome. It's pretty simple actually. Game of Thrones is AWESOME, but completely not family friendly and I do not recommend it for everyone.

Anyway while re-watching the first couple episodes of season one last night (yes my friends, if you have comcast all the episodes, even from this current season, are on HBO on demand) I found myself wanting to be part of the Stark family for many reasons two of which include the desire to wear (faux) fur and having a direwolf. In this I became ever so inclined to put together some Stark-esque modern day attire. Yes modern day Stark's wear Dr. Martens. Seriously, if any of you know people at Dr. Martens, I will work for shoes.

I'm in my second history class of the day right now (on break of course) and then I get to go back home to Jackson. Thank you all for your kind words and warm wishes, he seems to be slowly getting better.

I love seeing artist journal pages. I think it's really awesome when a story can be told in little doodles instead of lengthy paragraphs. Definitely more my style.

On a completely different note Jackson's skin is still in bad shape. It was doing really good and then yesterday while he was home alone he got his cone off and reversed all his progress. I'm a sad mama today. I feel like no matter how much we try to help him and take care of him he's making things harder for himself. It's just really frustrating- it's my job to make sure he's happy and healthy but I feel like it's something I can't always control despite my best efforts. It just stinks. If you can send good vibes his way or maybe slip him into your prayers I would be so grateful. I just can't stand to see my little guy in pain anymore.

With all this not so fun talk about Jackson I figured it was only fair to share some fun stuff, and what are more fun than a few super cute puppy pictures?

Home Sweet Home

We're home! I apologize for my absence yesterday, I got home and took a very long nap and watched a lot of Twin Peaks. Going on trips is always great but complete relaxation (aka being a lazy bum) is a necessary evil when on break. Today Nick and I strolled around town for a bit. We started at the food carts on Hawthorne. Pyro Pizza is one of my all time favorites and I highly recommend it if you're in the area. After lunch we went across the street to Lounge Lizard which just made me want to have a house so I could fill it with all the lovely things I found there. We ended our adventure by going to Open Space for some coffee. It's a cute little cafe by our apartment that I need to go to more often. $2 bottomless coffee? Talk about new homework/study spot.

Also I've been doing a lot of work redesigning Icon's retail blog since we're officially launching it as Velvet Empire in April. Go check it out!

It's getting increasingly rainy out so I think for the rest of the day I'm going to cuddle on the couch with Jackson and catch up on oh so many e-mails. Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Kitty Love

For those of you who don't know him yet, this is our cat Dexter. He has the spirit of a grumpy old man but is also very cuddly. We were having a moment so I figured I'd click into photo booth and save it forever. I promise I am not crushing him.

Bend has been amazing and we're heading home tomorrow early in the morn. As much fun as we've had here I can't wait to cuddle up with this little dude and puppy Jackson. I also can't wait to share a little peek into our ventures with you guys! See you then!

My name is Candace. 

I'm 21 years old. 

I'm a student at the Art Institute of Portland, majoring in Interior Design. 

I'm an after school teacher, teaching art and creative writing classes to 

a bunch of awesome teenagers.

I also work at a tattoo shop, and yes, it makes me feel super bad ass (and no, I do not tattoo people).

I have a partner in crime, his name is Nicholas, and I'm in love with him. 

We are proud parents to a silly dog named Jackon and a crabby, 

yet loving cat named Dexter.

The four of us live in a cozy little apartment in SE Portland OR, where we all thoroughly 

enjoy hanging out and cuddling on the couch together as a family. 

There is so much more to learn about us but what it all boils down to is that we are some pretty lucky kids and I felt like it was about time to start documenting this time in our lives.

Yep, that's me. I love mexican food.

Nick loves mexican food too. He also insists that we wear matching shirts...kidding.
